A great day for football up in Moffat this morning, only one slight problem no referee!!
A few phone calls from Uppers to the powers that be meant that the game could go ahead with the Uppers coach kindly offering to do the honours.
The line up was largely unchanged with a multitude of options in midfield and our options up front further hampered by several injuries.
Thankfully we’ve got into a good habit of getting some early goals and today was no exception. Patrick getting on the end of a cross with a cool finish. There was plenty of pressure from Greystone with Mids finding difficult to break out, further goals came from Liam, who grabbed a double in the first half and Callum following a poor clearance from their otherwise excellent keeper.
Upper Annandale 0 – 4 Greystone Athletic
The second half started in a similar vein to the first with Patrick scoring within a minute. Keenan then got on the score sheet firstly with a looping header and then a fine finish from a carefully weighted through ball from Thomas. Liam completed his hat trick with a volley from an assist from Callum. Duncan chipped in with a powerful strike from the edge of the box. Mo gave his usual cameo performance up front nodding in with his first touch. This was followed by Keenan and Patrick completing their hat tricks and a another for Callum.
All in all a very good performance from the team who kept the momentum and the goals going, in the lead up to the cup competitions.
Thanks to Uppers for their hospitality and especially Darren for standing in for the ref.
