How can a bumpy, uneven pitch be a leveller?
Well that riddle was well and truly answered on Sunday when we played against Heston at Maryfield.
The first half saw us play some decent football in spite of the poor state of the pitch and a ball that resembled a size 5 marble! Plenty of chances created but some poor shooting and only one composed finish, courtesy of a good through pass from midfield and a calm finish from Danny, saw us go in at the interval 1-0 up.
‘I hope we don’t live to regret those missed chances’ came to mind as Heston started the 2nd half in a positive fashion. Sure enough an equaliser soon followed.
We began to get more space as the half went on and again created a hatful of chances. A combination of some bad misses, bad luck and some fine saves from the Heston keeper kept the score level. There was one more moment of drama as Danny burst into the Heston box a late, despairing lunge came in from a Heston defender which proved just enough to put Danny off and the chance went begging.
It ended 1-1 and it looks like we’ll have to do it all again this Sunday in the cup!!!!
New tactics will be required to match the conditions. Tiki – taka passing game no more it’s route 1 football with a 1-0-9 formation, lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Keith, Maurice and Heston for their hospitality.
