A tough fixture vs Mids on a sun-drenched 3G at Dumfries High. A couple of changes in the starting line-up meant that Niall Holden started at right back, Robert Clyde making his debut in central midfield and Danny Bryson at centre forward.
Starting line-up :- Cunningham, Holden, McKerlie, Callander ,Lennox, Clyde, Bown, T Wright, Gibson, D Wright, Bryson Subs Armstrong, McQueen, Milligan
Both teams were trying to play a fluent passing game with Mids starting more brightly and Greystone soon found themselves 1-0 down. The last 20 mins of the half saw Greystone come back into the game with some great, flowing passing moves and deservedly equalised with a fine header from Brodie McKerlie.
Half time 1-1
The second half was a more scrappy affair and Mids began to exert more pressure and made it count with 2 further goals as Greystone started to give away some cheap possession. Late in the game the boys rallied and created several good chances with the Mids keeper making an excellent save from a Robert Clyde long range effort.
Well done to Mids for a good all round display, good effort from Greystone – lots of perspiration, not quite enough inspiration as they say.
The positive to take from the game was the quality of play in the first half and the challenge is to try to reproduce it on a more consistent basis.
